@litraerii it can and no one would disagree except when the topic is bi people. a book with a bi mc is only queer if they are in a same gender relationship bc thats what people think a bi person's queerness amounts to.
@hotglassofskank yall looooove pulling this paternalistic bs over bi people lecturing us about our own identity, experiences and erasure but after a while the sassy come backs are all it ever amounts to. y'all dgaf. i wish you'd just admit it and leave us out of your think pieces.
it's funny bc relationships aren't people either, but bi relationships are often labeled straight or gay regardless of our input. now apparently books with bi mcs don't count as queer books unless they check the right boxes for non-bisexuals too. always regardless of our input.
@hotglassofskank yes actually, bc i'm a bisexual woman who puts effort into reading about my own identity. you should at least try to do the same if you're going to get in bi people's business and dictate what bisexual representation gets to count as queer or not. dpmo.
@hotglassofskank lmao ur so confidently speaking over bi ppl abt our own erasure while operating from the assumption that bisexuality is half gay & half straight attraction. the queer part of bisexuality is mspec attraction. same gender attraction is just what we get most hatecrimed for.
@hotglassofskank would you??? cause this just doesn't happen. try saying a piece of media isn't queer when it openly features a lesbian main character. it simply doesn't happen, and rightfully so.
@hotglassofskank i don't buy that people care about the bisexual queer experience when it's never brought up in any other context than a bisexual not being in a same gender relationship. as if that's all our identity amounts to when it comes to handing out a conditional queer pass.
@hotglassofskank would you say that about any other sexuality or gender identity in the lgbtq? cause im sorry but i dont buy it. this conversation start with someone saying a book isn't queer if there's an "m/f romance" even when both characters are bi.
pride month is unfortunately the most annoying time to be online as a bisexual person maybe it's time to touch grass exclusively until july comes around and everyone gets the biphobic jokes and hot takes out of their systems.
@hotglassofskank and what do you know about the bi experience? what counts as exploring queer themes to you and why does that have to be a rule for bi representation and whether or not it qualifies as queer?
