Exams are done!
I will be beginning to resume my news reporting over the next few days - please let me know what you want to see in the comments below!
#BA198 from Mumbai #BOM to London #LHR has declared emergency via Squawk 7700 near Qatar. The aircraft appears to be diverting

This will cause significant delays as more aircraft will be diverting. For example, the second daily Emirates flight #EK37 will likely have to divert (ETA is 19:12), with the other Emirates flight still stuck at the gate

Some aircraft, such as F-HBXI, which diverted away from Birmingham #BHX are returning to their base airports without passengers to allow them to operate other flights.
This aircraft operated #AF1314 which diverted to #EMA East Midlands Airport.
@alexprismbreak I imagine lots of the problem is displaced aircraft - airlines like Air France have their aircraft at EMA, and they'll probably need to get their aircraft back to their hubs for future flights. It's annoying but nothing really can be done
UPDATE:
Following an incident at Birmingham Airport #BHX earlier today, it is confirmed everyone involved is ok and has been cleared by the ambulance service.
Delays are growing with check in and security remaining closed.

A video of the landing at Birmingham airport has emerged. Airport teams were on scenes immediately following the incident, where the main landing gear appears to have collapsed whilst on the runway.

@alexprismbreak It's likely aircraft recovery will take some time, as information will have to be gathered for an investigation. It's also likely with a belly landing there will be debris or damage to the runway that will have to be cleared - the last thing you want is a second incident!
At least 8 aircraft have been cancelled, and some, such as #FR3703 are delayed by 6+ hours (according to @flightradar24)
Scheduled: 16:05
Estimated: 01:05 tomorrow
We are at Birmingham Airport this afternoon after a small aircraft was involved in an emergency landing at around 1.40pm.
Officers are among the emergency crews at the scene and one person has been reported to have minor injuries.
It's a bittersweet farewell to our R2-D2™ ANA JET. R2-D2 has flown countless missions across the sky.

More aircraft are diverting away from Birmingham Airport as it seems the runway will be closed for a while longer.
#FR2155 is diverting to #EMA East Midlands Airport
#LS1204 is heading north possibly to #MAN or #LBA#FR2157 has made a U-turn over London
