The Authority joined industry stakeholders at the Women in Aviation Gala organized by Aerospace Uganda at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel on March 8, 2026.
The event was graced by the Minister of Works and Transport, Hon. Gen. Katumba Wamala, who highlighted developments in aviation and emphasized the importance of gender inclusion across all professions within the industry.
Other dignitaries in attendance included the Deputy Director General of UCAA, Ms. Olive B. Lumonya; Capt. Mike Mukula; Mr. Girma Wake, Acting CEO of Uganda Airlines; and Ms. Yogi Birigwa, President of the Uganda Tourism Association.
Ms. Lumonya delivered a key note reflecting on leadership and the empowerment of women in aviation.

Distinguished speakers included Mrs. Yogi Biriggwa, President of UTA, Ms. Suzan Batuuka Kaggwa, Head of Legal at Uganda Airlines, and Col. Christine Nekesa of the Air Force each sharing powerful insights on leadership, opportunity, and the growing role of women across aviation.
The evening was honoured by Chief Guest Gen Katumba Wamala, Minister of Works and Transport, alongside aviation icon Mike Mukula. Inspiring keynote remarks were delivered by Ms. Olive Birungi Lumonya, Deputy Director General UCAA. Their words sparked powerful conversations.

It was inspiring to have @Fly_ftc Center, @UgandaAviationAcademy, and @SkyWingsAviationTrainingCenter with us at this launch. By guiding and educating students, these institutions are helping are playing a vital role in providing standard aviation education, mentoriship.
