The Guardian announces it will no longer post on X
“The US presidential election campaign served to underline what we have considered for a long time: that X is a toxic media platform and its owner, Elon Musk, has been able to use its influence to shape political discourse.”
WOW, extraordinary scenes. If the British government tried to avoid direct confrontation with @elonmusk after his controversial tweets on the UK riots this summer, Italy president Mattarella, 83, pulls no punches against the American businessman, after he attacked Italian justice for blocking the transfer of illegal migrants to Albania:
“Italy is a great democratic country, and I must reiterate […] that it ‘knows how to take care of itself in accordance with its Constitution.’ Anyone, particularly if, as announced, they are about to take on an important government role in a friendly and allied country, must respect its sovereignty and cannot assume the right to issue instructions to it.”
Resounding silence from PM Giorgia Meloni so far. 🇮🇹🇺🇸
Meanwhile in Russia: Putin's presidential aide Nikolay Patrushev said, "To achieve success in the election, Donald Trump relied on certain forces to which he has corresponding obligations. As a responsible person, he will be obliged to fulfill them."
