राजस्थान में अन्य भारतीय भाषाओं का सम्मान और उनका अध्ययन स्वागत योग्य है। यदि हमारे विश्वविद्यालयों में मराठी के साथ-साथ तमिल, तेलुगु, कन्नड़ जैसी समृद्ध भाषाओं के केंद्र खुलेंगे तो इससे भाषाई विविधता मजबूत होगी और 'राष्ट्रीय एकता' (National Integration) की भावना को बल मिलेगा।

लेकिन यह चिंता का विषय है कि आज प्रदेश के मात्र 4 विश्वविद्यालयों में राजस्थानी भाषा का अलग विभाग है। मैं राज्य सरकार और राजभवन से आग्रह करता हूँ कि बाहरी भाषाओं से पहले प्रदेश के सभी विश्वविद्यालयों में 'राजस्थानी' भाषा के विभाग और अध्ययन केंद्र स्थापित कर इसे मजबूत किया जाए।

हमारी कांग्रेस सरकार ने 25 अगस्त 2003 को विधानसभा से प्रस्ताव पारित कर मारवाड़ी, मेवाड़ी, ढूंढाड़ी, हाड़ौती, मेवाती, बृज, वागड़ी, मालवी और शेखावाटी जैसी समृद्ध बोलियों सहित 'राजस्थानी भाषा' को संवैधानिक दर्जा दिलाने की जो मुहिम शुरू की थी। केंद्र सरकार राजस्थानी भाषा को अविलंब 8वीं अनुसूची में शामिल कर संवैधानिक मान्यता दे। मायड़ भाषा का सम्मान और इसका संरक्षण हमारी सर्वोच्च प्राथमिकता होनी चाहिए।
