I’m me big fan of watching movies in order to find the truth bombs that lie within.
What is truth?
Anything that vibrates with the soul.
So what I'm watching a movie I'm looking for the gems that resonate with the core of my being. Even if the movie is bad, you don't have to throw the baby out with the bathwater. There's always gonna be some sliver of truth, that makes part of it beautiful.
I watched Ghost (1990) this week due to its ridiculously high gross at the box office. The movie sucked, but there were 2 gems.
1. This crazy guy spitting truth FIRE about transmutation. He's dead but it applies to the living 100 fold.
Razors Edge of Running a Business
(Lesson from a nobody running a $2.5MM ARR biz)
People need to understand role-play.
Your job is 𝗻𝗼𝘁 to make the customer happy.
and likewise, the customers role is 𝗻𝗼𝘁 to be a pain in the ass to you.
The reason they say "the customer is alway’s right" is because they always have the 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 to ask.
Your role is to deliver.
Their role is to ask.
Your customer comes with a wish and you’re ideally like a genie in the bottle to them.
They’re looking for someone to grant their command.
So they need a badass commander genie.
You need to talk to your customer like you are the god of whatever it is you do,
and they are somebody who is wishing to piously basque in the presence of and benefit from the human god-form of your profession.
From the Djinn of whatever it is you profess to do.
You don’t talk high handed, or arrogant or conceded, you are a 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 god.
A kind deity.
Like god, your role is to be the immovable mover.
Your role is to be a brick shit house.
Who is willing to work with them.
Not a pushover.
Because customers want to work with somebody solid
They want to work someone who is kind and gentle but who can be righteously strong
That’s what people want in businessmen, they wanna deal with someone who is a reliable individual
but who isn’t a bitch. It’s a bit intimate and romantic in nature really.
Keen and mean, but not a softie.
A Lesson in Rejecting Your Inner Bitch (Not Being a Victim)
There once was a man named Julio who played as a goalkeeper for Real Madrid Castilla in the Segunda División in Spain. His athletic skill at a young age (19) pointed to a promising future and pro-career.
Man makes plans and god laughs. At age 20, tragedy struck.
Julio lost control of his car and rolled it, crushing his spinal cord to the point that doctors thought he would never walk again. Julio was confined to bed for 3 years recovering from paraparexia, which is basically partial paralysis.
During his recovery, a nurse named Eladio gave Julio a guitar to help him recover some of his dexterity. Remember at this point his limbs don't work very good.
This small gesture would redefine his life. The gift gave him a new avenue to express himself. He TAUGHT HIMSELF to play by accompanying songs on the radio. The guitar became his new partner in pain, helping him cope with uncertainty.
Rather than succumbing to despair, Julio leaned into his newfound EDGE, seeking solace in a musical world he had never dared venture near before.
Julio had a DORMANT talent. His rich voice and charisma (rizz) quickly captured hearts of those around him, pretty much like a fucking Disney movie.
So naturally, like a born winner, he decided to pursue a career in music, and in 1968 (just 5 years after his accident), he won the Benidorm International Song Festival with his song "La Vida Sigue Igual" ("Life Goes On Just the Same").
If you hadn't figured it our by now this is the story of Julio Iglesias who went on to sell 300 million records worldwide, throwing up numbers that rival The Beatles, Michael Jackson, and The King himself (Elvis).
He said of those years, "I had more COURAGE and ATTITUDE than talent"
Julio's story isn't just about the transmutation from football dreams to guitar strings; it's a testament to INDOMITABLENESS of the human spirit. The man HAD NO QUIT.
Instead of groveling in self pity, he dusted his pants off and turned LEAD tragedy into a triumphant GOLD journey of self-realization.
He passed the HERO'S JOURNEY with flying colors.
Made music that broke borders, language barriers and hearts. His uncountable awards and accolades, solidify a bonafide legacy.
He also fathered (at least) 8 kids.
Victimhood is being your own prison guard.
EMPIRES and INEVITABLE NATURE (super interesting)
When I was 12 I was doing some manual labor with my friend for his grandfather. One of the richest dudes in the state. Lawyer. Jewish. HUGE real estate investor.
Owns more land than anybody else in state.
ONLY thing I remember (VIVIDLY) was him telling us both to learn Mandarin if we wanted to get rich.
Anyways that's 100.0% coming to pass. Check vid for proof.
