@WorkElizab Lol! Those of us who took extra courses like typing, shorthand, business, etc. got the office and legal summer and college year part time jobs.
@aroog1278 They had home training, lived near extended family or neighbors who were like family, went to houses of worship including programs for youngsters, and embraced quality music, books, games, and movies for their age.

She was married to Ossie Davis, with whom she frequently performed until his death in 2005. She received numerous accolades, including an Emmy Award, a Grammy, Obie Award and a Drama Desk Award, as well as a nomination for an Academy Award. She was honored with the National Medal of Arts in 1995, the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award in 2000, and the Kennedy Center Honors in 2004.

@Jassmini2 All the youngsters have brought many menus to my house, and the local restaurant workers drop them off constantly in the doorway or car windshield. Plus some other items are around and the little ones want to operate everything from then to now.
@Hoorain154 Absolutely! I grew up in the NY area. We always said Mr. or Miss-Mrs-Ms and their last name. Sometimes we just used first names if they insisted. Living in Philly I am still not adjusted to being called Miss or Mrs. followed by my first name.
