@maotsuri Lockdown(s) only sped things up. The show I blame for making fandom spaces shittier is Big bang theory, bcs it's making geeks popular among normal people.
ive been hearing "ao3 is run by zionists" for so long and today im just finding out it's because they were taking down "fics" that were just donation links or "FREE PALESTINE" copypastas. are we stupid. you cannot do that on a fanfic site. it's not a fanfic. it will be taken down
@SuperBearNeo I don't think it's the terminally online crowd, but the normies crowd getting into fandom spaces, thinking these should be sanitized for their consumption.
that is because antis develop a moral superiority complex around their media consumption. a personal boundary becomes a moral principle, their discomfort becomes evidence of superior ethics, and anyone who does not share their view is consequently framed as immoral and dangerous,
@newtonsbirdlaw@tungtunglazyhur a friend once brought up in a conversation, that (some) minorities have issues with LGBT+, especially among themselves, so it's no wonder that taboo themes are an issue too...
"I was on ao3 before the wattpad migration!"
I was on fanfic. net, personal blogs, and live journals. I lived through the citrus scale era. When authors had segments where they talked to the characters about the chapter's contents.
We are not the same.
