now, earthquake activity has increased in southern Afar giving off 15 severe tremors daily. A dam close to the Awash River that supported the sugar production in Saboore threatens to burst flooding vast plain and settlements. Today massive evacuation is underway. Crisis looms.

Then with traditional leaders' go-ahead to abandom FGM, khaat and also allow marriage rights to females, the door is open wider for APDA's awareness, literacy work to make all this evident in the community - 2025 is going to be a very full year!!

Above mentioned clan meeting also agreed with APDA that the amphetamine khaat must stop from the entire community, the Regional government also endorsing this as of December. This then opens the way to utter social, economic improvement.

through the 3 conference of representative clan leadership as held Dec 25th in APDA field office, Afar history is being reformed: leaders unanimously agree that the pre-Islamic culture of female genital mutilation must stop and that they, clan leaders will punish the culprits!!

In Logya, Eritrean Afar youth are being tricked into a ticket to Europe where the gang-owner puts a gun to the head demanding around 5,000 USD from the family or die. APDA saved 5 youth from boarding a flight to Gondar and into Sudan. Kindly raise awareness

Here in NE Ethiopia, 700,000 hungry Afar have their hands tied but in Gaza, 2 million people have their hands BURNT and possibility of being dismembered - they too are hungry -unable to help themselves. We all need to rise up against this injustice

After almost 6 months being constantly on the door of TPLF in Mekele, APDA got back the crane truck TPLF took from Magaale at the start of the conflict - one more truck to get back!!!!

For 3 months APDA has been appealing to TPLF/government to return 2 trucks taken in early 2021, a person is negotiating in Mekele + going through the endless bureaucracy in Addis - poor Afar wait for APDA to bring them food and other assistance the world community offers.

Its the animal feed that is logically needed - herdsmen must have available, affordable feed to support breeding and milking animals - NOT awaiting disaster to get this. The gov and the donor community have their hand smothering of the Afar pastoralists.

During Vicky Ford's visit to Afar it was mentioned pastoralists cannot continue under pressure of climate change - NEVER did they get supporting livelihood/ marketing policies - where is the ongoing vet treatment, locally produced animal feed, markets??

APDA now completing vaccinating Magaale and Yallo children - walking throughout. Road between Wokri Iddi and Yallo littered with dead corpses. Yallo health center again destroyed. TPLF still in Hidda, Araadu and Tonsa in Magaale.

Again fighting has broken out in 'Assa Daa on Afar brder with Tigray. APDA visited 28,000 newly displaced people yesterday running from towns to live under trees in a river valley. Written update on Facebook and Webpage

In now 5 days of fighting on Aba'ala/ Barhale border with Tigray upwards of 30,000 are displaced, isolated from food and medical help. Afar far north is again silently baring the brunt.

Fod is being delivered in Erebti and in Teeru in a valant effort to prevent Magaale's 43,000 starving under the current military cut-off of these people - from the drop-off point, food is going out with community camels. APDA teams identify beneficiaries

7,850 litres of fuel for 2 generators and a water truck reached Konnaba yesterday on the Hamad 'Eela road through Afdeera - this is a breakthrough after weeks of negotiations to reach those suffering on the northern border.

For those who got the message of renewed fighting in nth Afar, Afar militia pushed the tPLF out of 'Assa' Daa in Barhale back into Tigray yesterday. We are still working with isolated communities. Providing the means of getting water in Konnaba and food.

Konnaba report of malnutrition is staggering - almost every second child. Report being collated but extremely serious. Food is now going into totally isolated Magaale from Teeru by camel as well s in from Erebti.
