We appreciate Sarah Jane Tribble for including Advocates for Community Health as a source in this important story, and for highlighting the perspective of ACH Board Member Tory Starr, CEO of Open Door Community Health Centers.
As the $50B Rural Health Transformation Fund moves forward, it’s critical that these investments truly strengthen access to care in rural communities—especially as states navigate how funds will be allocated and implemented.
We’re proud to contribute to this conversation and will continue advocating for community health centers and the patients they serve.

Every single word of this fantastic column by @Peggynoonannyc
‘I fear sometimes that few people really care about journalism, but we are dead without it. Someday something bad will happen, something terrible on a national scale, and the thing we’ll need most, literally to survive, is information. Reliable information—a way to get it, and then to get it to the public. That is what journalism is, getting the information. ‘

‘Medicaid Cut Me Off’: A Rural Health Center Faces New Pressures https://t.co/r937XKzqi5 by @emmabgo via @nytimes CC: @afarber@deltahealthcent
Excellent reporting by @newyorktimes_m journalist @emmabgo who visited the first rural Community Health Center in Mound Bayou,MS, & explored the vital role of #Medicaid. #valuechcs.
I spent time in the Mississippi Delta, at a rural health clinic, listening to patients worried about looming Medicaid cuts.
One woman walked in, with her granddaughter, and said: “I will tear this hospital down before I leave without getting her seen"

20 years post #HurricaneKatrina, we reflect on how tragedy reshaped Community Health Centers—strengthening their role as lifelines of care. With partners like @DirectRelief, CHCs rose to meet urgent needs & continue building healthy communities. https://t.co/Ot1duFgXSv #ValueCHCs
Patients lead CHCs—guiding care for their own communities. This model works, but ⏳ in 33 days federal funding expires unless Congress acts. Protect patient voices. Protect CHCs. 🔁 #CHCs60Days#ValueCHCs
Today marks 20 years since Hurricane Katrina. Despite devastation, Community Health Centers became first responders—caring for thousands & forging a lasting partnership with @DirectRelief.

🎉 60 years ago today, President Johnson signed the Medicare and Medicaid Act, transforming healthcare in America.
Since then, Medicaid & CHCs have worked together to expand access to high-quality care for millions.
Here’s to the work ahead.
#MedicaidMatters#ValueCHCs
This morning, I met with @NACHC President and CEO @KyuRheeMD, Chief Policy Officer Joe Dunn, Christine Pellerin, and my dear friend, former Congressman Henry Bonilla, to discuss their vital work expanding access to primary care. In #TX28 alone, more than 325,000 patients rely on six federally funded health center organizations operating 23 unique delivery sites – many serving rural communities.
These centers are a lifeline for South Texas. However, under the partisan budget bill – which I voted against – devastating cuts to Medicare and Medicaid threaten care for tens of thousands of people in our district.
I'll keep fighting in Congress to protect health care and the essential programs our communities depend on.
“Some Community Health Centers only have a 90-day cash supply.”
In this @cspan clip, NACHC’s Joe Dunn explains why the impact of the "One Big Beautiful Bill" is already being felt—and why lawmakers must act now to protect CHC patients.
