According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, people of any age can contract EV-D68. Children and teens are at the highest risk because they haven’t developed the same immunity adults have gained through exposure.

Chappell Roan issues a new statement defending herself after the media declared her personal boundaries non-sensical for an artist:
“I chose this career path because I love music and art and honoring my inner child, I do not accept harassment of any kind because I chose this path, nor do I deserve it. […] If you see me as a b**** or ungrateful or my entire statement upsets you, baby that’s you… you gotta look inward and ask yourself “wait why am I so upset by this? Why is a girl expressing her fears and boundaries so infuriating?”
This isn’t going the way you thought it would. That’s embarrassing for you. 🥴
…. He’s praying. Why are you recording… The real question is what would go through my mind if I saw you recording this innocent man saying a prayer.. you’re weird
In 2010, a nineteen year old Australian man named Sam Ballard spent an evening drinking with his friends in the back garden, when a slug came to their attention.
Being young and dumb and a bit inebriated, one of them suggested, as a dare, that Sam swallow the slug, which he did.
Some time later Sam started to complain of aches and pains and informed his parents of his foolhardy act, which they dismissed as irrelevant.
The sad truth is that the slug was carrying Rat Lungworm disease, a parasite called Angiostronjilus. Deposited in the faeces of an infected rat the slug picked it up and finally passed to the unfortunate man.
The parasite worked its way through its host’s system, finding its way to the brain and causing an inflammation that induced a coma lasting over 400 days. On waking, he was completely paralyzed and was reliant on round-the-clock care in order to function. He finally succumbed to his condition and passed away in 2018.
