@HJMovingFarAway Oh, I’ve always liked Noddy Holder’s accent, whilst at the same time resenting the massive cash injection he receives every time that sodding song pisses me off every time I try to go shopping in Autumn.
They keep coming up with these “sexiest accent” polls and they’re always wrong. Don’t get me wrong, Greek, Brazilian & Spanish will melt my knees every time. But Brummie, which always comes out as last, it SO adorable for me. My first husband will be one of those four (maybe).
@HJMovingFarAway As an adult, of course, I know, lovely people come from all parts. Brookside taught me scouse was ok. I know accents mean nothing but the brain can have prejudices.
@HJMovingFarAway There’s no rhyme nor reason, I suppose. Growing up when N.Ireland was always spoken with hatred must’ve had an effect. My angry Glaswegian dad the same.
@HJMovingFarAway Funny, I find the singy-songy-uppy-downy Welsh accent lovely - also the West Country, so sweet. Adorable in the same way I find Brummies to be. Maybe because I grew up with Ulster accents always shouting about violence. And Scouse & Geordie always sounded so harsh.
By the way, I saw my fist #ElizabethLine puppy on the train last night. Two chaps got on, with all necessary accoutrements. S/he looked happy. Drank plenty of water and looked a lot happier than my bitch on the Chiltern Line. I almost asked for a photo, but I’m too shy. Damn it.
Had a semi-plan to cycle to Hampstead Heath today. Apparently, there are quiet safe routes from Bloomsbury and even a couple of paths you’re even allowed to #cycle on 1 or 2 paths on the actual Heath. Thanks to https://t.co/1VyQoZC00f and I will do it. But weather means sofa+fan.
Worked it out. A quick lift Bakerloo to #ElizabethLine was my imagination. You always need escalators or lifts up to the mainline railway station & then take escalators down to The Liz. But, at the back of an eastbound Liz, take the lift to National Rail for quick Farringdon Met.
I was wrong. A revelation last night. I WASN’T dreaming about a direct link between Bakerloo & #ElizabethLine. You don’t have to walk through the railway station. There IS a lift, escalator & walkthrough tunnel directly between the two. Stay tuned as I work out the quickest route
By George, I’ve got it. I, finally, have one pair of glasses which make small close-up things look clear and focussed. And one pair of glasses that make far-away blurred little things look clear and focused. (Yes, I know varifocals exist. They were a disaster) 👓 👓 🤓
Ok, ok, I know I’ve been tweeting a lot about the #ElizabethLine recently. Not to mention #ABBA. Well, fear not. I have found a way of combining the two with these simple screen grabs from a YouTuber who compared the Liz Line to the Central Line. Pretty obvious which is better.
Unexpected question of the day…
Mum: Where’s Khartoum?
Me: Sudan.
Mum: Thought so. I had an argument years ago with someone who insisted it was in Ethiopia.
(She’d had a brief stop there in 1952 on a many-stops flight to South Africa)
Just a reminder of effect of 1p off basic rate of tax - with income over £50,570 saving would be £377. Average pay pay £30,000 saves £174. Nat Living wage 37.5 hrs a week saves £60 and £53 if aged 21-22. Biggest savings for the best off.
What was I thinking!? Having looked at that previous photo I can see my iPad focuses on everything perfectly, so all I need to do is look at that photo and zoom in to the bit I need. Ain’t technology great?
This is what I have become. I left my reading glasses at home on Thursday, therefore I am using the old magnifier inherited from my great aunt, who died in her 80s in the 1980s, to try to read tonight’s Hello Fresh recipe. This is what I have become, aged 49.
