@j_shuskey1@Edgam1303@CanesIncognito Funny thing is they didn’t even luck out that way this year. Ottawa finished ninth in NHL in points, had the same goal differential as Dallas and as many regulation wins as Minnesota
Only after Canes swept them did people retcon it and say Sens sucked all along
@FieldsSzn69@jonbecker_ Lol come on. Point is there’s no difference between this and the obviously prearranged deals the Red Sox/Orioles did with Kristian Campbell and Samuel Basallo that just didn’t get leaked
@jonbecker_ Ha yeah I get why they did it that way (no need for the incentive anymore if service time doesn’t matter) but feels like they just didn’t think through that this was obviously what teams were going to do instead
Two days after AA tried to push the idea that the rotation depth is fine, their 3-5 is Grant Holmes iff a partial UCL tear, Reynaldo Lopez off shoulder surgery, and Bryce Elder or Joey Wentz
Hurston Waldrep had some elbow discomfort this week. A MRI showed loose bodies, but the ligament seemed fine. He will see Dr. Meister this week. The Braves don’t know how long he might be out.
@EthanHullihen Explanation on VC all makes sense. I spent like two hours trying to reverse engineer that 44.75 haha
Wondering how you got the ~ $28.2 CBT hit for last year? Seems like Yankees acquired him at 2/47.5 (52.5-5 CC)
Paid 23.75 for 27.5, and I figured Sherman rounded the 3.75 to 3.8
@EthanHullihen Thanks for clarifying VC. Will be sure to link to this thread in our MLBTR post on the tomorrow.
Can you explain where you’re getting the initial overcharge on the first deal for the True Up though? Lost me there
@Lucasparmenter0@ChrisCotillo It’s basically an unofficial deferral within the contract. The mutual option comes with a buyout that counts towards the player’s guaranteed money but doesn’t get paid until after 2030, so the team can kick a couple million dollars back to the end of the deal. Doesn’t change AAV
