1.) Narinder Singh is the only Sikh candidate in the upcoming Afghan elections.
He is standing in place of his father, Avtar Singh Khalsa, who was killed in a suicide blast in Jalalabad last July.
The parliamentary election will be held on 20 October.

@amanmadra @JhuttiJay Although the rights of minority religions are protected under the Afghan constitution, the Taliban made Sikhs and Hindus publicly identify themselves by wearing yellow patches on their clothing as well as having to mark their homes, businesses and places of worship in yellow.

The patkas are yellow in colour as the Taliban forced Sikhs to wear yellow to identify themselves.

Today, there are fewer than three hundred families in the country.
