@crygraph@RichardZ2430@Herman57839111@dominic_w Yah I'm more baffled by why a person would sue a big company like meta for a logo based on a generic symbol like infinity. I don't understand what goes through Dom's mind. Is he doing this for clout or he's just that salty guy.
$ICP Community, @dominic_w is a salty little prick who thinks he can sue his way to success.
This is just a publicity stunt by @dominic_w to stir up some noise to let everyone know $ICP is still alive.
I bet you this will be forgotten in a few days just like the below lawsuit
Meta Platforms (Facebook) is being sued over its logo.
A Swiss non-profit that develops blockchain technology (Dfinity), has filed a lawsuit claiming that Meta's new logo is too similar to its own.
Apparently, an infinity logo is all the rage in Web3.

The key papers (Groth-Shoup 2021/2022 on ECDSA+AKD+presignatures security and the distributed signing service) are public academic work on IACR ePrint, one under CC BY. Ideas like re-randomized presignatures for fast online signing entered the open literature.
NEAR’s MPC builds on the independent open-source Cait-Sith library (triples + presignatures) with its own modifications, not a direct copy of DFINITY’s IC-specific async protocol. No public patents appear for the core scheme. Hiring ex-staff raises questions of knowledge transfer, but published research is free to implement. Clear infringement would require code theft, trade secrets, or patents—none are evident here. Legal outcome is for courts if pursued.
@jp_dawg@PassionPlanet1@NewFish_2_Whale@dominic_w They don't wanna admit it. Cuz icy pee is magic with no flaws and Dominic is Jesus and can do no wrong. In reality Dominic has made millions and is set for life and only people who lose if icp doesn't do well are the investors. I bet you Dominic has 0.01% of his networth in icp.
I am heavily invested in $NEAR so decided to deep dive about these @dfinity vs. @NEARProtocol patent infringement claims.
Claude, ChatGPT and Grok broadly converge on the same conclusion:
DFINITY $ICP appears to have a credible patent issue worth pursuing, but not a clear cut case that threatens NEAR’s protocol. NEAR $NEAR HAS meaningful non-infringement, validity and design-around defenses.
the most likely outcome is either no action, a limited license/settlement, or continued migration away from the disputed implementation.
bottom line: legitimate litigation risk, not a proven technology-theft scandal, and not an existential $NEAR thesis breaker.
The battle begins.
My prediction, @dominic_w is digging his own grave. Crypto community will isolate $icp even more for these nonsense his spewing right now of legal action and what not. And within next year $ICP goes out of top 100.
