@LiterateIndy This is cool and a sad depiction that Indianapolis had better passenger service in 1874 than its nearly non-existence presence today. Imagine simple service just to St. Louis, Chicago, and the east coast.
@LiterateIndy Good history. The suburbs were really coming to life in that timeframe. I well remember the very pleasant open-air Greenwood Shopping Center of that timeframe, before it’s Greenwood Park Mall enclosure/expansion.
@JMV1070 My gosh, I hope you didn’t say 80 degrees is a threshold for the @colts to keep the Lucas Oil roof closed. An 80 degree September day is perfect. Prefer to see it open anytime it’s over 50 and not rain, sleet or snow.
@LiterateIndy Clearly before the interstate. 31 to Louisville would be quite a ride today with all the stop lights. Wonder what the County Line Rd area in Greenwood looked like back them.
@AugieNash One of my favorite players as a kid. Power hitter, moved from OF to first base when needed. And, a coach later on. I’d say he should be in the Cardinals HOF and wearing the red jacket soonest!
