Zverev was absolutely on a par with Sinner in this final. It could have gone either way. Sinner returned slightly better in the fourth set, but Zverev had 13 winners and 8 unforced errors, whilst Sinner had 9 winners and 5 unforced errors. Zverev played brave throughout the whole match and he can be proud of that. It was an amazing final and much, much closer than all the experts has told us before.
And who would have thought just a few months ago that he would win Roland Garros and reach the final at Wimbledon.
Congratulations to @AlexZverev on his very first Grand Slam Singles title!
He is also the first man with Type 1 Diabetes to win a major.
What a victory for everyone living with this disease.

Had to scrap and dig for it at age 29. It wasn't always pretty but it wasn't always ugly either. Zverev prevails 6-1 4-6 6-4 6-7 (5) 6-1 over Flavio Cobolli of Italy and over himself
The 1st German man to win #RolandGarros in 89 years
