Today I received Dr. Kikiope Oluware, Executive Director of the One Health and Development Initiative (OHDI), alongside Dr. Julie Bwoga of the Africa Fish and Aquaculture Welfare (AFIWEL) Program, during a courtesy call at the State Department for the Blue Economy and Fisheries.
We reviewed the progress of our collaboration under AFIWEL, including the development of the National Fish Welfare Manual (FW-MSOP), which is set for national validation tomorrow in Kisumu. This milestone reflects our shared commitment to promoting ethical, safe, and sustainable aquaculture systems in Kenya and across Africa.
The meeting was also attended by Dr Paul Orina l, Director General of the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute @KmfriResearch . I also briefed the team on Kenya’s preparations for the 11th Our Ocean Conference @OurOceanOOC and explored opportunities for partnership and support.
