Yes, let’s victim blame the parents. Not the men who assaulted and murdered a child. Not the predators who walk among us. Not the society that keeps producing and enabling them. The parents. This obsession with policing women and children while refusing to confront male violence is exactly why nothing changes. By that logic, we should stop sending children to school too. It could be a teacher. A guard. A driver. Where does it end? Some children get abused at home by known people. The problem is not children existing in the world. The problem is predators.
We need swift and severe punishments so predators know they cannot get away with these crimes. And we need communities that look out for one another, where adults pay attention, step in and protect children when they see them alone and vulnerable.
the society that allows an 8 yr old child to be r*ped, murdered, and discarded just for walking to the local shop and the reactions are she shouldn't have gone there alone, is entirely collapsed. a society this rotten shouldn't exist. It should be burned to the ground.
It’s all men until THEY acknowledge MENs role in the endemic of violence against women. It’s all men until the focus is on THEIR violence not OUR clothes. It’s all men until the headlines stop reading man killed woman over rejection. It’s ALL men as long as most men remain silent
Oh God,js saw this. it is terrifying that the 1st instinct for so many in our society is to search for a justification for an acid attack or rape, rather than feeling outrage at the cruelty. This mindset that a woman must have done smth to 'provoke' her own suffering is a sickness-
Violence against women is one of the biggest issues facing the country. It deters women from participation in public life, from accessing education, from safely commuting to work, and to live a dignified life. Dr Mahnoor’s life has been ruined by a system built to victimise women and make their lives living hell. Patriarchal violence is an everyday occurrence for most women in this country. Public spaces and private spaces have become extremely dangerous. The state has failed to address it with the seriousness it needs to be dealt with.
Everyday a woman is killed, maimed and r*ped in this country and we all live on like every case is an exception instead of recognising how widespread it is and how Pakistan is one of the worst countries to be a woman.
the cctv footage of the acid attack is heartbreaking and terrifying. i can’t stop thinking, she was going about an ordinary day and a man chose to destroy her life in worst way possible. it’s so scary how random and close this kind of violence can be, it could've been any of us.
Came home to the news of her namesake Dr attacked in Quetta and I had a million feelings, rage, fear, hopelessness... Must have played the footage a few hundred times. May Allah grant her proper healing. May Allah protect all of us.
Yesterday daughter saw some1 with his face visibly burnt and was afraid. I bought a few stickers from him to help her understand that sometimes people have issues, and scars and we don't have to be afraid. She said mama what if I get burnt.
@raftardotcom It's not just Karachi. Interior sindh is out of power since Tuesday and it's still not restored but why would the main stream media speak against the PPP mafia
