(1/3) General Zakria, the commander of the newly created Rocket Force of the Pakistan Army, delivered an address at the Shangri-La Dialogue 2026 in Singapore. @OfficialDGISPR@PakDefence_@IISS_org
One of his key remarks was identical to a point I made in a column published in the Daily Times in October 2024. Excerpt from the column: “Technology itself is not inherently dangerous or destructive; it is the user, human beings, who shape its impact on society”.
In today’s @FT
Pakistan’s civil-military leadership is working to shield the public from the worst spillover effects of the Middle East conflict.

"I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan... BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS!" - President Donald J. Trump
Multipolarity is dangerous. Time will prove it. A clear msg to India, Israel. KSA is normalising with IR. Greatest achievement for FM Asim Munir. Pak economy has now a solid backup. Militarily, a breakthrough for both Pak, KSA. It is not without Trump’s nod.
Breaking news: Saudi Arabia has signed a 'strategic mutual defence' pact with Pakistan, signalling to the US and Israel that the kingdom is willing to diversify its security alliances as it looks to bolster its deterrence. https://t.co/YY9Q7nyEWr
Peter Navarro, in his latest for @FT, criticises the same I raised 6 days ago in @etribune, "Indian Neutrality".
I've made a visual on it. Will appreciate your feedback.

@stirfries@FT@etribune I highly recommend you to watch @SecScottBessent today's interview on CNBC, particularly from 13:40 to 15:15. Will get your answers.

@stirfries@FT@etribune She is not standing up to the US. IR is not about sentiments. India neither wants confrontation with Pak nor with China. Its fast growing econ cannot afford it. But in any eventuality India needs US help against Pak, China. But it doesn't mean it has to submit.
@stirfries@FT@etribune This is not about oil prices; it is about exploiting the Russia-Ukraine war to profiteer from discounted Russian crude, funneling billions into the coffers of politically connected Indian energy titans.
@stirfries@FT@etribune US runs a massive trade deficit with India, nearing $50bn annually. Of course, India needs US. Nuclear weapons can't substitute economic growth. Such a big deficit gives the US a leverage over India, and Trump is using it.
@stirfries@FT@etribune I agree with you. But please allow every country to do so. When Trump asked India to stop importing Russian crude, it was protecting its country's stature as he wants to end this mess by applying pressure on Russian econ (Consider this statement before Alaska Summit)
@stirfries@FT@etribune Indian foreign affairs outlook was never "non-aligned". They proudly protect national interests. They maintained relations with the US, USSR. But if India wants to protect its NI, would you allow Trump to do so for the US?
