I randomly remember a conversation with a “suit” where she asked where I see myself in 5 years and my answer was something around doing postproduction on a larger scale.

She then replied, “have you thought about diversifying into something “higher” than editing?”

Me: Higher? Like what?

“Like directing”, she said.

Right there understood why many “filmmakers” who don’t understand this filmmaking craft underrate postproduction and why a lot of young editors only see editing as a means to an end(directing)

Not saying it’s wrong to end up as a director after starting out as an editor, infact you can do both simultaneously.

I only had a handful of Nollywood editors to look up to when I started and I now understand why. I hope to change this.

Hopefully, I and other editors of my generation are able to inspire a generation of people who will believe they can make a comfortable living and be respected just for being film editors without the need to “aspire” to “more”.

@kunle_kenny It’s nice but it’s slow paced, has a lot of loop holes but it’s able to keep you wondering what will happen in the end. I particularly liked that they twisted the truth to the police as against what we would have expected.
