Two suspects have been arrested by the Greater Accra Police Command for allegedly attempting to bribe a police officer with GH¢30,000 to secure the release of a truck and 175 slabs of suspected narcotic drugs.

Police say the truck was intercepted at Abofu, near Achimota, after reportedly travelling from Kpandai.

The owner of Euro Spa and Beauty Lounge, in Shiashie, Jessica Hartog, has been arrested and arraigned before an Accra High Court over her alleged involvement in the smuggling of the nearly four tonnes of cocaine intercepted by French Authorities.

She is alleged to be the fiancé of one of the key figures in the operation and was arrested alongside three other suspects. She faces charges of conspiracy to commit a crime and the unlicensed exportation of narcotic drugs.

The suspect has since pleaded not guilty and has been remanded in custody, awaiting her rearraignment on 13th October, 2026.

Ghana police in a diversionary tactics

The Ghana Police Service has intercepted a truck loaded with 175 slabs of suspected narcotic drugs at Abofu near Achimota.

According to the police, the occupants fled the scene upon spotting officers, but two suspects later reported to the Accra Police Headquarters to claim ownership of the vehicle.

The suspects allegedly attempted to bribe the police with GH¢30,000 during interrogation to secure the release of the vehicle and drugs, leading to their arrest.

A survey by Prof. Smart A. Sarpong has found that 51.2% of 9,330 respondents across 11 regions reported no significant change in their economic situation as of September 2026.
