Ah, I am begining to understand the new youth culture in #Zimbabwe. The young cdes dont value intellectualism, equality values, let alone reading. They just want opportunities to make money. Ethically or unethically. Its a national crisis. Thanks to the current government.
AI may give us unlimited geniuses
But how many geniuses do we need, and do most people have anything to say to them?
150+ IQ people aren’t usually the most productive people either. They tend to be very “jagged”. Highly innovative sometimes in a certain narrowly defined domain, and often useless elsewhere.
It isn’t necessarily the case at all that more geniuses produces more innovation and discovery; the trajectory of the 20th century seems the opposite of this. IQ level rises and the absolute number of people at the extreme tail explodes, yet innovation doesn’t scale linearly with this. “Clustering” - more highly capable people crowding into a few areas - seems the more typical pattern
The early 20th century doesn’t seem to have been much harmed by having many fewer high IQ types. There were maybe 1000 theoretical physicists at work globally in 1920, yet they revolutionized physics. We have at least 10x this maybe at work today, and yet the quality of their work product is nowhere near as impactful
I think the median person has already reached the limit of what they can usefully do with AI models. Most people don’t need Astra. It’s being used as glorified Google search. The chess models show us the way. You’re playing a chess engine with an Elo of 3700. You don’t need this. It’s way too overpowered. They’re already nerfed extensively for almost everyone to make it fun.
I posted a year or two ago about how I wondered what the *dumb* uses of AI were. We’re making smarter and smarter models, and that’s useful and some people will get advantage out of them.
But most people will have nothing to say to these brilliant machines. Just like they have nothing to say to Einstein. What’s the nerfed version of AI? One with an Elo of 1000? That’s probably the sweet spot
Same with military equipment. The AK-47 is a great weapon not because it’s particularly good. It isn’t. It’s arguably a bad gun. But you can use it with little training. It can be abused. You can get dirty. Dumb untrained drunk people can use it. That’s why it’s good, and why it was so widely adopted
Everyone’s focusing on the highest upper end when it comes to AI. We need to be thinking more about the low-median end.
USA is a whole continent, UK and Europe are a whole continent via Schengen visa. Africa on the other hand is 52 districts of people thinking others are foreigners.
If you want something from someone, make it clear what. It's not imposing to ask explicitly for something; it's imposing to be vague and make the recipient work to figure out what you want.
The US has made a financial guarantee scheme permanent. Under the new rule, travelers from 30 African countries applying for US business or tourism visas will be required to pay a refundable deposit of up to $20,000 before their visa is approved.

I think all government establishments should be run on pay as you go meters. If they don't pay, they don't have electricity. Simple. This should be a policy championed by the public. The public is already using those meters, the government must comply too.
>Spain takes a Pro Palestine stance
>Spain refuses to help with the Iran war
>Mysteriously, a wave of illegal immigrants from Africa hits their shores and a bunch of Israelis promote it
There is no such thing as a coincidence
