I am pleased to provide an update on the administrative progress regarding the match bonuses for our national team at AFCON 2025.
The Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) have successfully streamlined the foreign exchange processing to ensure our players are rewarded without further delay.
Going forward, the process will be fully streamlined to ensure faster, more predictable disbursements aligned with international best practice.
Here is the current progress:
• ✅ Funding: All group-stage bonuses were fully released and have now cleared the necessary regulatory stages.
• ⚡ Acceleration: We have implemented a fast-track conversion process to move funds into foreign currency, honouring the players’ preferences.
• 🏦 Disbursement: The final transfers to domiciliary accounts are currently in flight. Players can expect these funds to reflect starting today or tomorrow.
Our focus remains entirely on supporting the team’s welfare so they can maintain their incredible momentum in the knockout rounds.
We move forward with one goal: Bringing the trophy home! 🏆

🇳🇬 Nigerians, please join the call for @taiwoyedele to come and explain what happened to the tax bill after it was passed by the National Assembly.
You all should recall that on the floor of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abdulsammad Dasuki (PDP, Sokoto) raised a formal Point of Privilege, alleging that the officially gazetted versions of Nigeria’s new tax reform laws DO NOT MATCH the bills that were debated, voted on, and passed by the National Assembly.
Lawmakers say they personally reviewed the gazetted copies and found material differences from the harmonised versions approved by both chambers.
Some of the key discrepancies reported include changes to funding provisions, the introduction of a mandatory 20% DEPOSIT BEFORE APPEALS CAN BE HEARD, provisions ALLOWING ASSET GARNISHMENT WITHOUT COURT APPROVAL, alterations to currency computation rules and empowering tax officers with police-like POWERS OF ARREST AND DETENTION.
Nigerians should note that any alteration of a published law compared with what the National Assembly passed undermines CONSTITUTIONAL GOVERNANCE and sovereignty.
Please join the call for @taiwoyedele to come and provide Nigerians with clarity on what truly happened to the tax bill. #RejectPovertyTax
