Great honor to deliver this year's #SteveBiko Lecture. Thank you Steve Biko family & Foundation for giving me this platform to share reflections on #COVID19 as an opportunity to push for EQUITY, JUSTICE & SELF-RELIANCE.
Humbled to join such an illustrious group of speakers.
Mwalimu Julius Nyerere was Africa's youngest Pan-Africanist when he led #Tanganyika to independence in 1961. When he stepped down as #Tanzania's president in 1985, he was the only third African leader to handover power voluntarily.

Today marks the 44th year since the brutal murdering of #SteveBantuBiko - the father of Black Consciousness - by the Apartheid regime. Black people were robbed, yet again, of brave leaders who agitate for not only political but mental emancipation. #BlackManYouAreOnYourOwn
In South Sudan it is estimated that there are to about 12 million cattle which is believed to be among the highest number in Africa, the number of cattle you own determines your wealth and not the amount of cash in your bank account.
The Mundari tribe values their cattle more than anything else as they rely on them for basically everything. So far they seem to be content with their relationship with their cattle.
Mundari men are known to bathe their hair in cow urine, it is regarded as a precious resource as it gives the hair a yellow-orange colour which is something that their women admire so much and often fall in love with a man who carry such hair.
The lifestyle of Mundari tribe in South Sudan evolves around their cattle: cattle serves as food, a form of currency and a mark of status in the community. In most cases, men will sleep in the middle of the herd to protect it from any danger.
