NEW POST: Many software teams pack too much work into their iterations. Teams will usually run better when they have deliberate slack, as it allows their delivery to be more predictable and gives them time to improve their environment.

I have finally managed to get my hands on some never seen before footage of the @afrolabs team at work under my direction over the previous 6 weeks, with a rare glimpse of the junior product owner I'm training and coaching.
Coolest Projects South Africa will be celebrating online and in-person this year with an event in Cape Town on the morning of Saturday, 10 December 2022.

horrible news. been starting my days with 20-30 min of light yoga and unfortunately it really makes a difference, mentally and physically. i’m so sorry
Know anyone in need of our wizardry?
(dev&design start-up product MVPs: @GoogleCloudTech, @Firebase, web, android, pub-sub, bigquery, BDD, CI/CD)
We've got an @afrolabs tech team needing a new mission, looking for something cool/weird/positive impact that we can love creating.
Meeting the team's needs helps them to succeed, but sometimes it can be difficult to even know where to start looking for needs of the team.
We map out the Team Needs Hexagon when working with teams at afrolabs and x-labs, pointing to six supporting domains to look in for needs.
Sound familiar? "We're ready to do this, now we just need a great dev team to execute."
ofc, that has a big "just" with hiring, team forming and finding flow.
BUT, if you do know someone who is in that situation, please connect us 🙏🏻
We have a great team available now @afrolabs

Farewell office, hello future.
Tonight we had a great cake time saying "farewell to the office" at afrolabs.
Our physical office has been a hard-working part of our company(-ies) for the past 18 years, we celebrated the office and now going full remote with cake at the office.
Excitement in the fabric of afro-space-time as we are all gathering physically together as a company for our first all-in in-person week, many will meet in-the-flesh for the first time!
They've been working together and collaborating for the past few years on Google cloud, firestore, angular/react/vue, android. Recent problem domains: locations, mapping, tracking, scheduling.
@afrolabs@xamarinhq@FlutterDev@Firebase For a deeper dive on Detox there was this great post by @iremkaraoglu_ last month:
"I would like to talk about UI tests, which is one of the things that I am responsible for a year in the company that I work at." ... "Talk is cheap, show me the code."

This thread☝🏻is the intro to our latest post "Getting started with Android automation",
by (B)enjamin and @davidcampey,
featuring a success story from the Loop delivery app.

The @Android app development cycle involves many complex steps, especially to get a build ready for customers.
Two time-consuming steps that are complex to get right are testing and deployment.
There are ways to reduce this using automation, using tools such as:
1/...
For non-native apps:
- Detox (React Native)
- Appium (React Native)
- Xamarin.UITest (@xamarinhq)
- @FlutterDev's built-in test
worth mentioning @Firebase Test Lab can potentially be crow-barred to work w/ limited functionality on non-native apps using OCR capabilities 3/...
