What I’m working on this week on After the Wind: 12 new weapons, each crafted from the monsters you hunt and the ores you mine, and a character creator with a live colour picker so you stand out in co-op hunts.
What should I add next?
How fast can one dev go with AI? 5 weeks in, here's my whole process on After the Wind, my Monster Hunter meets Ragnarok Online game: every feature starts with an idea, research and built with Claude Code and Codex, judged in game and iterated. Gamedev has never been more fun
@oivoodoo They live in seperate environments haha I don't make them work on the same things.
But it is funny that they sometimes will slightly trash talk each other's work on main.
@JourneymanMW Exactly, it's an Obsidian graph database.
I use it for research (I've made a skill called re-searcher that's super cool) and for storing my VFX breakdowns so I can have claude or codex understand how to layer them.
@RochollJulian Damn the shark is smooth ! Great job.
For the animals I make claude do the key poses and I refine it in cascadeur with bezier interpolation and autophysics.
For humans, basic locomotion is from asset packs and custom animations claude + cascadeur.
@WukongClan The ressources that helped me the most:
- I did all the Claude Code certifications
- Google AI expert certification
-I use Godot so I watched a lot of game devs making games on Godot.
- the goat @Stefan_3D_AI for everything AI
- candlesan’s videos on game design
@WukongClan Honestly I didn’t have any experience when I started. I consumed a lot of content to understand the basics. And then it’s just intuition, taste and time investment. I truly believe that anybody can achieve anything with the tools we have today if they give it a real chance :)
@LuxcasKanto I initially it’s because as Godot is open source, I figured it would be easier if I want to develop tools for it. And Godot doesn’t take a share of the earnings :)
I’m sure both are equally good options.
@telep_io Claude does most of the heavy lifting in terms of code and implementation. I use astra for generating references and some of the VFX as the vision model is great. But Opus 5.5 is cheaper and more efficient for everything else imo :)
@ArmandoSmaidi I'm aiming for a first playtest by the end of November, I want to add a couple more big monster and weapons first and make sure the game is properly optimized :)
