@ElizabethA88984 For me, William being hard-wired that way feels more fitting than it being a consequence of a loveless/neglectful childhood. The inherent evilness feels more natural for the character 😭
@ElizabethA88984 Him being born that way could explain his bitterness and spite towards others. Him being different, knowing something’s wrong with him, would’ve been very isolating and confusing as a child, even more so in the 1940s-50s when psychopathy was far from being common knowledge +
@ElizabethA88984 As for William, in TSE it is stated that he felt like he was always taken for granted and that “the world owed him his cruel pleasures”. There’s many things that hint towards him having a messy childhood imo and I agree that it can be interpreted as emotional neglect
@ElizabethA88984 As far as I’m concerned psychopathy isn’t easily diagnosed and it especially applies to children bc it’s not uncommon for some to have psychopathic traits that they eventually grow out, meaning they were never psychopaths to begin with (could’ve been the case ur referring to) +

Madurar es aceptar que Homelander fue victima de SA por Madelyn desde que era menor de edad, y él solo deseaba complacerla pq no tenía a nadie más que lo amara genuinamente.
