Today is my birthday. I turned 40.
But nobody knows it anymore, except my close family.
Because I am socially isolated due to Long Covid for four years now.
People simply forgot me.
They forgot us.
Children with Long COVID had measurable retinal microvascular changes. https://t.co/eIElYHievL
In 74 kids ages 7–17, scans found wider arterioles, wider venules, and a higher A/V ratio, consistent with endothelial dysfunction.
The eye may help track pediatric Long COVID.
We are looking for patients (or caregivers) who can read & translate Thai, Indonesian, or Arabic for an upcoming research project.
If that's you, please email us at [email protected]! #LongCovid
Unless the world takes action, Israel will eradicate the Palestinian people. That is their ultimate plan. Many people, especially your government officials, who support and fund Israel and its crimes look on without issue. Some even cheer on these atrocities. They have no problem smelling our blood and burnt flesh. They have no issue watching our children’s brains spill from their heads, or fetuses struck by shrapnel and killed alongside their mothers.
It falls on everyone to stop this. Your tax dollars have been funding the weapons Israel uses to carry out these terrorist strikes and crimes.
What are you doing each day to change this? We aren’t asking for tanks, F-16s, or F-35s; we are just asking you to stop sending the bombs and bullets.
Demand that your media stop covering this up. Your media is complicit.
Do everything in your power to stop Israel’s actions, just as your government does everything to enable them.
I should not have to beg you. It is your responsibility!
DO SOMETHING
I would say that I have no idea why people continue to go out of their way to make it harder to exist as long covid patients, harder for us to be taken seriously, and continue to work to increase stigma against us, but I guess ultimately ppl are afraid of the reality of LC
"Many patients with long COVID are already receiving care but are not being recognized as having the condition. These patients are not absent from clinical care; they are absent from the diagnostic code that would identify them as long COVID patients"

As a clinical health psychologist who has written >20 papers on COVID, I would emphasize 4 facts:
1) Long COVID is not a psychological diagnosis nor manifestation of a psychological condition
2) Billions of dollars need to be invested in biomedical treatments and preventives, and that money is not being invested because of wealthy short-term interests, which prop up various narratives, including in the media
3) Behavioral interventions can help with infection/reinfection prevention (e.g., COVI-CAN pilot) and stress/coping support (gaslighting/ostracism as huge issues), but these are not cures, and the same interventions are relevant to people with cancer, organ failure, immunocompromising conditions, etc.
4) Many psychological/behavioral "treatments" for Long COVID are directly harmful to patients and are indirectly harmful to society by incorrectly framing the issues
I would consider these issues obvious in summer 2020.
Articles like this should not be written in 2026, but it is a consequences of cultural evolution, or organizational selection by consequences. The organizations that write puff pieces propping up pseudoscience get the gold, while truth tellers do not. It would be useful to examine the organizational practices at WIRED that led to the incentive systems that allowed this piece to manifest.
“Given that nearly everyone in the US is believed to have had COVID, the 16% rate extrapolated to the approximately 340 million people in the country would mean that roughly 54 million Americans developed #LongCovid.
An HHS spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment.”
Kids walked the halls of Congress with teddy bears in hand to deliver one message: End child detention now.
Families detained in Dilley and Delaney Hall report unsafe conditions, lack of medical care, and trauma—all funded by our tax dollars. Join us: https://t.co/BVgWXN0Ilp
Some of us “young and healthy” (+ wholly disabled) women longhaulers have even brought in this sort of research to cardiologists who told us our chest pain was “non cardiac,” denied us additional testing, and instructed us to return to exercise or try therapy. 🙂

Large study (av age 45) shows people with #LongCovid are 4.48x more likely to have a Major Adverse Cardiovascular Event (stroke, pulmonary embolism, heart failure) & 53% more likely to die.
True regardless of age, BMI, vaccination, variant. Risks last 3+ years from infection. 1/
Sex was significant: female sex = 454% more likely to have a MACE (vs 258% for male).
Variant didn't matter - risk of MACEs were 308% for Alpha, 310% for Delta, & 335% for Omicron.
Age didn't matter - risk was 363% for <65 & 283% for 65+.

Is there an association between human herpesviruses (HHVs) reactivation and Long COVID? We analyzed HHV DNA shedding in saliva and found that HHV-6 correlates with Long COVID severity. Claire Laxton, @S_Tabachnikova, Lily Cooke, Kexin Wang et al.

PLRC has released a letter in response to RECOVER-TLC's decision to retain their proposed dosage & titration schedule for LDN. This decision ignores public feedback, including concerns about slower titration approaches for children with #LongCovid.

@loscharlos@AzolaAlba@ProjectECHO I asked my dr at the Long Covid Clinic about these syndromes and if I could get a vascular ultrasound. She said she'd never heard of them or their relation to LC. If "specialists" at LC clinics are ignorant of these issues I dont know how anyone is supposed to get help with them.
