@sizov_andre Yes wheat becomes mostly a rotational crop to keep enough carbon in the rotation, control weeds, and break broadleaf disease cycles. We don’t do much wheat after wheat here, so to switch from wheat to sunflowers on most fields would mean sunflowers after a broadleaf.

@sizov_andre Yes. I can’t speak for other areas. This is just my local bid. Basis is poor and the futures have come down enough that the cash price is matching pre-war values.

@clintwfischer I only have a couple observations to contribute. One is that it seems more common (not saying easier) to get started with a few cows than it is a few crop acres. Another is at NDSU people in Saddle and Sirloin seemed to love what they do more than those in Agronomy Club.

Also seems like it would have an inflationary effect and then we’d be back to being poor again? Would it attract immigrants who want to live off the system, not work?

@gwiesefarms My McDonalds comparison is to buying land. Farmers use the profit from the whole farm to buy parcels that would never pay for themselves at that price. Would you use your profit from 10 McDonalds to buy 1 more at a price that it can’t pay for itself?
