6. Re schools. You cannot get to a local school without registering at a German home, which you can only do in person. a) contact schools in advance to prime them for your arrival, b) ask your landlord for confirmation of your lease so you have on the day of your arrival..

5. No international school nearby? Do not panic. Most local schools are well prepared to deal with foreign speaking kids!

4. If you have kids, look at the neighboring schools. not all take kids with no German knowledge. Your school choice will be defined by your address.

3. Search for your future home. It is hard to get a "normal" apartment contract for a year and without German credit score so look into @SabbaticalHomes or @wunderflats or local websites for furnished apartments
