We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of David Hockney, one of the most influential and defining contemporary artists of the 20th century.
The Yorkshire painter’s seven-decade career was characterised by a multi-media approach to image making and a sustained commitment to celebrating and portraying the world around him.
His work will continue to inspire artists for generations to come.
@JustJamie252@Char_Tutton They are both equally repellent in my book, Charity & that clown she calls a husband. Vanity was a beautiful thing, a powerful story of impact and consequence. Until it wasn't.
@JustJamie252@Char_Tutton I guess, you mean pitiable. The masses are so easily manipulated, they can never be trusted as a measure of good judgement. Or, god forbid, good taste.
@JustJamie252@Char_Tutton Sympathetic? Her character is an unrepentant betrayer and deceiver, being exhausted on the same exploitative and glorified stories of trauma porn. Humdrum and obsolete springs to mind. #emmerdale
@soapcorriefan Carla being faulted for the B & L indignities is ludicrous enough but not as ludicrous as the SA claim or Lisa being defended as a paragon of loyalty. But, "it is always a relief to the conscience if one can apportion some measure of guilt to the person one has betrayed".
Iranian-French filmmaker and graphic novelist Marjane Satrapi has sadly passed away at the age of 56.
Satrapi was best known for Persepolis and its acclaimed animated film adaptation, works that brought her international recognition and made her one of the most influential voices in contemporary graphic storytelling.
Her legacy spans literature, film, and advocacy for freedom, women’s rights, and human rights.
Rest in peace. 🖤
@soapcorriefan Being #emmerdale, it's more than certain that this too will fall under the category of empty sensationalized drivel & glorified trauma porn (on a loop) considering the character chosen for this storyline. Too heavy an issue to be handled by this bunch of juvenile shockvertisers.
