The person being fired should’ve received feedback on the work, and it should’ve been clear that more is expected of him/her?

Obviously not always possible, but I think speed to PoC has increased a lot, it’s easier to learn from reality rather than theory, and it’s not painful to throw away things that didn’t work?

Whereas I’d guess the Netherlands are wildly different to Mexico, but maybe they have few tricks up their sleeve

If you miss out on trend X - it’s a huge loss, you’ll get mocked, can lose the business, etc.

Whereas with potential layoffs - they are only theoretical, thus perceived unlikely and looked at more utilitarian-style?
