Is today like the day the First World War started? We’re pottering about as normal but future humanity will say ‘it began on November 5th, by March Mexico had been invaded, in April he declared himself Galactic Emperor and in May all Democrats were classified as mosquitoes’?
@BethRigby It isn’t a nod to meritocracy, Beth.
It’s a nod to the dismal pickings available.
I thought you’d know what meritocracy is.
Do you want to list Patel and Jenrick’s achievements to support your view?
Newark-on-Trent is the largest Polish Air Force cemetery in the world. Almost 400 airmen and paratroopers are laid to rest there, primarily from 300, 301, 304 and 305 squadrons. They lost their lives fighting "for our freedom and yours", contributing to the Allied victory.
Lest we forget!

@VitalikButerin@nic_carter If a patient has cancer, you give the patient chemotherapy. The patient.
You don’t try some global shit out that potentially kills us all off in the process.
@BethRigby Come on, Beth! His reaction sounded like something he’d prepared a few days ago and recited like he’d not listened to the actual speech. I know it’s his job to oppose, but his opposing feels like going through the motions. One buttock on that private jet seat already.
Exactly this. Fake fury is the warp and weft of authoritarian populism and the fact that @BBCNews has become its platform - in place of journalism - should concern everyone.
How do Emma Barnett and Laura Kuennsberg know their listeners/ viewers are furious? It’s a form of populist arrogance..they read the screaming headlines in some papers..assume they speak for the entire electorate and elect themselves as their fantasy audience’s spokespersons.
@shannonrwatts When has political campaigning descended into offensive banter? And people seriously think this is the standard for politics now, do they?
