I know many ppl who are Catholic educated (17 years for me!) in the capitalistic, neoliberal tradition where how to live in communion with others is not a central tenant of their lives but a vaguely quantified transaction of minimally “balancing out” their self-centeredness.
I literally cannot and refuse to make any more attempts to try to understand why you would take your mask off for a photo at an event where masks were required that was centered around the ADA and accessibility and there were definitely inherently high-risk people there.
It 100% sucks in every possible way and I am not listening to a single other excuse. Drawing a line between disabled and immunocompromised is what you all did and it fucking sucks. That’s the “divide”, not us calling y’all out. You created the divide.
Ppl keep telling me their cases are/were mild.
I was never hospitalized for a virus before my pancreas failed. I don’t even know if I knew I was sick.
But ableist ppl are never going to take outcomes other than death seriously & Biden knew this, feed this, manipulated this.
A majority of people, including political leaders and esp privileged white liberals, constructed a post-vaccine world before there was ever one such that the “finish line” was mass vax & that alone.
It’s why liberals spent so much time & energy morally shaming the unvaccinated.
Most colleges and universities are not proactively considering the needs of disabled and chronically ill faculty, staff, and students at this point in the pandemic and never ever will because they legally don’t have to until the people they should be considering out themselves.
