Most colleges and universities are not proactively considering the needs of disabled and chronically ill faculty, staff, and students at this point in the pandemic and never ever will because they legally don’t have to until the people they should be considering out themselves.
One extremely funny thing that happened this semester is that Harvard students cheated using their university-provided ChatGPT subscriptions, and were caught because the university had access to their accounts

Understand that corporations see schools (and universities) as their MARKETPLACE. They will do ANYTHING to get their products in there with exclusive contracts.

This junk is being pushed by trustees, and, because trustees are major donors, presidents probably feel obliged to them. But the first one who just flat out says no and loses their office because of it will be a legend in their own time.
Being an expert on things related to reading and writing or that involve reading and writing does not, in most cases, make someone an expert on reading and/or writing including the teaching of reading and/or writing.
College campuses, well, minus the bosses who are, at least in the performance of their jobs, morally and ethically bankrupt. And the people looking to curry favor with their bosses with hopes of one day too being a morally and ethically corrupt boss!
It will be interesting to see how many centrist liberals who are currently banging the drum about people made “illiterate” by AI also being voters end up championing whatever voting literacy test proposal centrists put forth in the name of saving democracy!
University “partnerships” w/ AI companies are peak “higher ed initiative” bc initiatives require “securing contracts,” “establishing centers,” “naming directors,” etc.
Not that any of these “leaders” would resist but resistance not an initiative bc no commodities to claim.
You can’t get your next boss job without doing something! How you gonna get that next boss job if you don’t do things, have commodified achievements, form corporate partnerships, build shit, harm people, do deals with the bad guys, etc.?
