Subject: Request for Temporary Federal Income Tax Relief for Federal Employees Impacted by the Government Shutdown
I am writing to respectfully request your consideration and support for temporary federal income tax relief—specifically, a tax exemption, tax credit, or tax cancellation—for federal employees who continued working without pay during the recent government shutdown.
During the shutdown period, many federal employees, including myself, fulfilled our duties as required by law and as part of our commitment to the safety, security, and functioning of the United States. Despite carrying out these responsibilities, we received little to no income for weeks. To meet basic financial obligations—housing, food, transportation, medical needs, and caring for our families, many of us were forced to take on additional debt. This included:
• Using personal credit cards and incurring high-interest balances,
• Taking out personal loans or early withdrawals against retirement accounts,
• Accumulating late fees or penalties for delayed bill payments,
• Experiencing budget hardship that will extend well beyond the shutdown period.
Unlike private-sector employees, federal workers are legally prohibited from striking or refusing to work. We served the nation during the shutdown under the expectation that we would eventually be made whole. However, back pay does not erase the secondary financial harm, such as accrued interest on debt, fees, or the long-term impact on credit scores.
Therefore, I respectfully request legislative or executive action to:
1. Provide federal income tax relief for this tax year for impacted federal employees, specifically those who worked without pay during the shutdown, and/or
2. Exclude back-pay received for unpaid shutdown work from taxable income, and/or
3. Provide a one-time refundable tax credit equivalent to the taxes owed on that back pay, and/or
4. Cancel any or all taxes to be due by tax time for 2025 (April 2026).
This is not a request for additional compensation, benefits, or preferential treatment. It is a request for fairness.
Federal employees did not choose to be placed into involuntary financial hardship. We upheld our duties during a national shutdown, and many of us did so while facing personal financial consequences that will continue to affect us far beyond the shutdown period. While members of congress continued to receive their incredibly high pay and the government was sending billions of dollars to foreign countries (some even enemies.. even if the U.S. government deems them not), which can be considered treasonous by original constitutional documents.
Tax relief would not only reduce the burden caused by forced debt accumulation, but it would also demonstrate that the United States honors those who continue serving through adversity.
I deeply appreciate your consideration of this request and your continued leadership. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss this matter further or provide any documentation needed.
Respectfully,
Government Employee

“They Changed My Daughter’s Last Name and Now She’s Gone”
“They are stealing the children… they are taking the children who are found alone.”
A desperate mother says her daughter was rescued after the earthquake, but when she went to claim her, she was allegedly told the child’s last name had been changed. The little girl has since disappeared.
She claims that many children found alone are being taken, with their identities altered.
