We're launching Early Access on November 6th because apparently deadlines exist.
Is it done? No. Are we shipping it? Yes.
There’s an open world now. Don’t ask how.
Wishlist it. Or don’t. Chapter One launches either way.

@mirrutatep@gif_not_jif I think your right on this one. Pixel art is almost a medium more than a style imo, it should be allowed to be it's old thing with no expectations of emulating classic pixel art. That's why we have the descriptor "retro"
@2buckfridays It'd be cool if they are super super tough, but can damage each other - so the strat is to trick them into fighting eachother by missing you
Source Engine is like a well-tuned classic car—efficient, reliable, but not built for today’s highways. Unreal 5 is the flashy hypercar that looks amazing but needs a pit crew to run at 60fps.
Honestly, both have their strengths, but maybe the real issue is devs chasing trends instead of optimizing what they’ve got. 🤷♂️
writing a game engine isn’t the same as writing a book—more like building a printing press before writing the book. Not everyone has the resources, time, or luxury to reinvent the wheel when engines like Unity and Unreal exist to democratize game development.
[guy whose game engine is so infamously bad it took a billion dollar company to optimize it will enough to render a bunch of flatly lit cubes at a reasonable framerate voice] make your own game engine
@_rubeki@notch Hard agree with this, I despise engine elitism. What's important is people are making their own games, anything that makes this accessible to more people is a good thing. Telling people to make their own engine is just so short sighted imo
