For a person with #demetia all “behavior” is a form of communication of a need. Loneliness, fear, hunger, to go to the bathroom, too hot, too cold, something is irritating them, #pain. When a person #sundowns their 🧠 is tired and doing the best it can to tell us what they need.
@alzheimerssoc recommends thinking of sundowning as a form of communication for the person with dementia. They write that “… the person may be trying to communicate rather than behave a certain way just because it’s late afternoon.
