Youth, TVET & Skills Specialist (Senior Education Economist) at the African Development Bank’s Human Capital, Youth, and Skills Development Department.
@ntvkenya As a skills expert, RPL should primarily be understood as a social justice mechanism—one designed to promote inclusivity by recognising skills acquired through informal and non-formal pathways.
RPL is about skills, not academic knowledge.
This morning I was priviledged to launch the Youth Employment Innovation Multidonor Trust Fund(YEI-MDTF) Grant Project by the African Development Bank (AFDB)
This project, supported by AfDB under the GoK/AfDB "Support to TVET and Entrepreneurship (TVETE) Phase III project, will be implemented by the State Department for TVET in collaboration with the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA)and will see the capacity building of TVET trainees for growth, stability and sustainability of youth entreprises while also improving TVET - Industry linkage through mentorship and training in job readiness and entrepreneurship.
On behalf of the Government, I applaud the AfDB for the extensive support it has offered to the TVET sector in the last 15 years.
My sincere appreciation to the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) for coming on board to support the TVET sector.
@kcbmpesa STOP SENDING ME THOSE MESSAGES.
I give you my money for a year, say KES 50,000, you promise to give me a paltry KES 3,175.
I take your money -50,000, without shame want to take 54,900 from me. #FinancialFreedom cannot be attained with these skewed financial systems.
Excellent conversation with the Hon. PS from Canada about the available opportunities for skilled young professionals in Kenya accessing jobs in the Global Value Chains (GVCs). The consensus is CBET is the way to go. @MastercardFdn@CICan_Kenya@Muoria_Dr#YoungAfricaWorks
@CICan_Kenya had the pleasure of hosting Maninder Sidhu, Parliamentary Secretary to Canada's Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade, and Economic Development, Canada in our offices.
Met with the Colleges and Institutes Canada (CiCan), led by Aggrey Ndombi, the Senior Technical Advisor/CiCan Representative in Kenya, together with Movitz Schimt, CiCan Manager of Operations in Canada, who is visiting Kenya.
CiCan is implementing the TVET-Young Africa Works (TVET-YAW) and Kenya Blue Economy Skills Project (KBEST) in the State Department.
I expressed my gratitude for the work already done in the TVET space by CiCan. Key among them is the training of TVET trainers on CBET delivery methodologies, the development of our 102 CBET curricula, and the establishment of centers of excellence in 24 TVET colleges, among other interventions.
#YoungAfricaWorks in Kenya TVET program continues to strengthen the quality of TVET education in Kenya. Over 15 Gender mainstreaming policies launched in the TVET institutions to create an inclusive learning environment for all students. @NGECKenya@MastercardFdn@TVET_MoE

Earlier today during launch of TVET Trainers' CBET Delivery Methodologies Training at the Sigalagala National Polytechnic, I re-emphasized that TVET institutions must henceforth depart from supply-driven to demand-driven competency-based training and assessment. This Training, also happening in five other National Polytechnics is supported by the Mastercard Foundation and implemented by CiCAN and the Kenya School of TVET (KSTVET).
