The outcome felt like a second betrayal. Farkhunda's story remains a haunting reminder of how a single lie and a crowd willing to believe it, can destroy an innocent life.

Farkhunda Malikzada was a 27 year old religious studies student in Kabul. On March 19, 2015, she confronted a vendor at the Shah Do Shamshira shrine for selling amulets that he claimed had religious power, accusing him of exploiting people's faith.
However, on appeal, the death sentences were overturned, most prison terms were reduced or dismissed, and many of those convicted were eventually released.
Amazing discovery in Anatolia! New #Hittite tablet shows striking correspondences with the narrative of #Homer's Iliad and testifies to second-millennium Luwian songs about the fall of #Troy. More here: https://t.co/glZr1xIqBO
The Turks have a homely proverb applied on such occasions: they say “the fish stinks first at the head”, meaning, that if the servant is disorderly, it is because the master is so. (Observations on the religion, law, government, and manners of the Turks, 1768, p. 123)
Modern Turkish keeps the same proverb as "Balık baştan kokar",
Sir James Porter, who served as the British ambassador to the Ottoman Empire for 15 years in the 18th century, mentions this proverb in his book:
“Fish start to stink at the top”: [this is a proverb] applied to people who have scoundrels for leaders.”
#Proverb
@mikligarthur1@BiruniKhorasan 'doğru' has the same two different meanings like the Persian word 'rast' as well as -rast- is used in many different forms in Turkish (rastgele, rastlantı, rastlamak, çapraz etc.)
