Explaining the endless backlog/inertia in our courts to advocates, clients and judges despite massive increases in the number judges:
1. We have 365 days in a year.
2. The High Court, Court of Appeal and the Supreme court don't sit on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, totalling 156 days.
3. We are left with 209 working days in a year.
4. Judges take summer vacation of 45 days from 1st August to 15th September.
5. They take 21 days Christmas leave from 22nd December to 15th January.
6. They take 14 days Easter vacation.
7. Judges take 30 days annual leave.
8. Judges spend 30 days a year in workshop, training, seminars and foreign trips, specially the Supreme Court judges.
9. Average of 15 days on personal and family emergencies .
10. The Average judge of the High Court and the Court of Appeal sit in court a mere 54 days a year.
11. Supreme Court judges sit between 25 to 28 days in a year.
12. The Chief Justice sits in court less than 15 days a year.
With judges working just 54 days a year, do you now understand the second biggest challenge facing the courts after JurisPESA?

He was underrated. Rigathi's superb strategic skills, via elaborate DCP delegated stewards, delivered Ol Kalou to spur a nation's HOPE. The truth is that RiggyG is shepherding the WANTAM movement to rescue our motherland 🇰🇪 from gluttonous Ruto jaws. Wamùnyoro spirit triumphs. #RutoMustGo
Being an AG with absolute power, he called the then Central Provincial Commissioner David Musila and gave instructions that the operation to recover his priced mug should commence immediately
The PC in turn called the DC who in turn called the DO who mobilised the chiefs and soon the entire village was looking for Njonjo's lost mug under the supervision of the PC.
Luckily the mug was found and driven in the PC's Land Rover to Njonjo's office at Sheria House making it the most sought mug in the history of Kenya.😂😂💔
When Baba Raila Odinga used to order his people to listen to him, they obeyed him because he was their Kingpin.Gachagua asked Mrima people to stay away from today’s maandamano and they listened. Most Mrima counties, people stayed at home. It’s called being loyal to the king.
SHOCKING‼️
Shock as a Gatundu woman gets stuck in thick mud while planting arrow roots, (Nduma), forcing residents to rush to her rescue in a dramatic incident that left many stunned. 🥹.
KRA wants a share of dowry money.
There is a guy called Kamau.
When it was time to buy his wife, he mobilized his most monied buddies.
He put them in a WhatsApp group. The fundraising began.
Those boys were loaded. They were only 35.
By by the time they were done, they had contributed 4.5 million shillings.
Others who were not in the group wired money directly to Kamau's bank account.
The ruracio D-Day arrived.
And as always, the one and only Kikuyu ruracio anthem was tuned.
🎶 Wero... Werokamu guku kwa wa Kanini... Werokamu... 🎶
Before they could finish the song, more than 2,000 people had pulled up.
Wakaanza kutoa funjo. Then one man stood on a stool and announced they could not sit until they had given Kamau top up money to add to the dowry.
The donation book was hurriedly brought. People lined up. Cash started flowing.
By the end of the day, another 2.8 million shillings had been raised.
Kamau took the money and banked it.
Total dowry contribution sitting at his bank account: 8m shillings.
The ceremony became the talk of Gatundu South.
Kamau paid his dowry. Collected his wife. And went home peacefully.
• Lesson 1. Monied friends are good for paying dowry.
I have no clue how. But sometime later, Kamau was marked for a KRA tax audit.
KRA went straight for his bank statements. They found deposits of 8 million shillings.
Immediately, they baptized the entire amount as undeclared taxable income.
Then demanded: 30% income tax. Penalties plus interest.
Total bill: 2.5 million shillings plus.
When Kamau saw the tax bill, he went mad.
He could try to talk but words would not come out. He nearly swallowed his tongue.
When he came back to real life. He shipped a protest letter to KRA.
He explained the money was dowry contribution from his family, friends and well wishers.
- He produced WhatsApp group fundraising screenshots.
- He produced RTGS confirmations.
- He produced the donation book.
- He even produced videos of the ceremony.
Including footage of the Werokamu song.
KRA could not hear any of it. They only wanted 2.5 million.
When Kamau realized KRA was not playing, he ran to court.
He told the Tribunal:
- My lord, look. I have shown KRA where the money came from.
- I have shown KRA who contributed it.
- I have shown KRA the ceremony.
- What more do they want from me?
KRA responded.
And what they said nearly made the judges fall off their chairs.
They argued the evidence was not convincing.
Why?
• Because the 2,000 plus donors had not sworn affidavits confirming that the money they gave was a donation and not payment for goods or services.
The Tribunal looked at the matter in amusement.
Then ruled.
- Kamau had discharged his burden of proof in full.
- KRA had acted unreasonably by ignoring and disregarding the substantial evidence he provided.
- And most importantly: Income tax is a tax on income. It is not a tax on every deposit appearing in a bank account.
The Tribunal found that KRA was wrong to treat all bank deposits as taxable income without first removing proven non income items such as dowry contributions.
The tax demand was killed.
Kamau won.
KRA retreated to Times Tower. And rested.
Case closed.
• Lesson 2.
- Document everything.
- KRA will push. Push hard.
Whoever came up with the phrase cheap is expensive certainly never fueled at Astrol Petrol Station.
1. It is 100% Kenyan, founded in 2000 by the late Thayu Kamal Kabugi and is now run by the son, James Mwangi.
2. They not only own the land their stations are built on to cut costs but also manage their stations directly rather than franchising.
3. Their fuel contains a high 91 PON rating, which is higher than the premium fuels around, including V-Power.
4. They are not only 2 - 7 shillings cheaper but also never hoard fuel whenever there are shortages.
We don’t appreciate such companies enough
Some yrs ago, noble men conceptualized a plan to revolutionize healthcare in East Africa, with Centers of Excellence developed to lead the provision of specialized care.
Phase 1 targeted Ke (Kidney), Tz (Heart), & Ug (Cancer).
Guess which country dint bother to complete theirs.
Microfinance institutions have had a tendency of imposing unconscionable interest rates under the disguise that the in duplum principle under Section 44 of the Banking Act does not apply to them.
The High Court has ruled that the in duplum principle extends to all lenders. ✍️
⚠️ If you use Ngong–Suswa Road, read this.
Around Gashagasha, criminals have turned part of the road into a trap.
They scatter sharp objects on the road → you drive over and get a puncture → you’re forced to stop.
That’s when they come for you and rob you.
3 victims already.
If your tyre suddenly goes flat in that area, do NOT stop immediately.
Drive to a safer, populated place. The star has also highlighted a similar case.
During my morning run, I watched a matatu crew having chai and chapati for breakfast
Same lunch later: beans + chapati or rice. Same dinner: ugali + mboga or nyama.
But here’s the twist
The conductors are generally lean.
The drivers have potbellies.
Same food. Different bodies.
Why the big difference? Movement.
Conductors are on their feet all day, jumping in and out, calling passengers, hanging off doors.
Drivers? Seated all day, pressing horns and gears.
It’s not always the carbs. It’s the lifestyle.
Mjengo guys can eat ugali in peace since their job is the workout.
You in the office? Moving Excel sheets isn’t movement. You must create time for exercise and limit carbohydrates.
If exercise is not part of your job, it has to be part of your life.
We are not the same.
The Bishop of Mamlaka Chapel has landed himself in soup hotter than kaswende urine. The man of God who's married is being accused of grazing where he absolutely should not,, on a church member’s sheep! Leaked WhatsApp messages show the good bishop texting “I love you so much, babes” at 2 AM.
At that hour, normal pastors are deep in prayer, but this one was clearly conducting midnight fellowships of a different kind. Meanwhile, poor Brother Bernard was at home wondering why his marriage had turned into a dry season. The wife suddenly became very committed to ministry.
Church meetings increased like rent in Nairobi, and somehow they were always happening late at night. She would come back home saying she's tired from the ministry. Bernard thought she was serving the Lord, not realizing she had enrolled in advanced horizontal engineering classes.
And that’s when things got suspicious, Brother Bernard says access to the promised land became once a month, like a doctor's appointment. My guy was being scheduled like a public holiday. Meanwhile, pale kwa mtumishi wa mungu, there was no booking system, just walk-ins and full service.
Let me tell you brethren, when a woman suddenly loses interest, it’s not that the generator is broken, the electricity has just been redirected to another location! Bernard was living in total blackout while the bishop was supplying high voltage power like KPLC on steroids.
These pulpit bandits are dangerous! Preaching resist temptation during the day, then running waist ministries at night like certified instructors. You even find the wife slaughtering the only surviving chicken to cook for the pastor, while the husband is at home eating managu like he’s an herbivorous.
And the most painful part is that Brother Bernard is still faithfully paying 10% tithe every month. Imagine sponsoring a man who is busy enjoying your wife, then he hands you a receipt saying God bless you abundantly Brother Bernard. Ni Mbaya. PUT STONE,, PUT NDARUGO. 😭
@jumaf3@DCI_Kenya@EduMinKenya It has been reported too that young vulnerable boys are sodomised by the bullies in the school who are offered protection by the administration. As long as the steep fees is paid by the bullies then they get protection. The school is well known for getting national exam leakage
This is so wrong and the parents of this kid should sue the goons in this video who are also students... Reports say this is Merishaw School... Who is the headteacher and what action has he taken? Cc @DCI_Kenya@EduMinKenya
