Some thoughts about the President of the United States speaking about ending a civilization. The president speaks genocide. Anyone who has been involved in that conversation or associated actions would be complicit. And so we too must speak. Not only about crimes, but about their legal punishment.
I was flattered and honored to be invited, two years ago, to deliver the 2027 Lawrence Stone Lectures at Princeton University; I was saddened and mystified to learn that Princeton has disinvited me.

One of the joys of my (endless, understaffed, and underfunded) job are days like this, when you get the first copy of the full print run of a new book. This is a brilliant collection of poems by Iya #Kiva, a #Ukrainian poet of #Jewish origin from #Donetsk, from various periods, translated by the incomparable duo of Amelia Mukamel Glaser (who also wrote an introduction) and Yuliya Ilchuk, and edited by Grace Mahoney. Cover design is by Anya Styopina and book design is by Andrii Kravchuk—thank you for all the work and patience that went into creating this book as such a striking physical object!

My poems from the second collection will be soon available in English translation by incredible translator, author and professor of literature @aglaser
You can find it in British independent publishing house Jantar, based in London.
This tweet is how the president of the US marked Juneteenth this year -- the anniversary of emancipation in the US. (Same president who just spent tens of millions of $ on his birthday parade.)
🚨 There’s a lot of horrific news out of Washington right now—but you might have missed this: Senate Republicans just introduced a plan to sell off 120 million acres of our public lands.
Let me break down what’s in the bill and why it’s a full-scale land grab. 🧵
MAGA, you were awfully quiet yesterday. Took you all night to figure out how to spin what we all saw—Felon47’s sad little birthday rally while the rest of America was doing the most patriotic thing: protesting. The world sees your weakness now. Good luck covering that up.
Zelensky: Trump criticizes me? If it brings us closer to ending the war, I’ll take it all in stride. He’s chosen his strategy. I’m not here to judge. 1/
"Like Van Gogh’s Arlesian night sky the instances of light are exaggerated"
My brilliant grad student at @UCSD, @reemhtasyakan, is also a poet and fiction writer. Her latest work in @neologismpoetry https://t.co/hkfVHCzrzy
In his Easter message, @ZelenskyyUa raises an existential question that many Ukrainians have had for years: “how can we not lose faith after everything we're going through?”
The answer is hope — something strong inside you that keeps you from giving up
Lavrov: Ukraine is a Nazi project backed by Europe to fight Russia. Moscow will “denazify” Kyiv and build a new world order - with China, India, Iran, and North Korea.
Russia says it’s fighting fascism. But glorifies North Korea. And partners with Iran.
