Our second male athlete of the year finalist is Camanche's Eric Kinkaid (@KinkaidEric). He was the school's first state wrestling champion in 25 years and a four-time state place winner. He was second team all-state in football after rushing for 861 yards and posting 78 tackles.

At the U20 women's WTT in Texas …

Bettendorf's Ella Schmit took 3rd at 59kg. Lost her first match yesterday, then won 7 in a row, all by fall, for third.

Nyla Valencia, an Iowa recruit, took 3rd at 50kg. Won 6 in a row in the wrestlebacks, went 8-2 overall.

Tough wrestling.

Camanche’s Eric Kinkaid defeats Vinton-Shellsburg’s Cooper Sanders 5-2 to win a Class 2A state title at 145. He is three months removed from a broken leg, and is now Camanche’s first state champ since 1987. #iahswr
