@JohnCleese Maybe Ukraine should have had an election instead of violently removing their President with US help and replacing him with a nationalist anti-Russian government.
@geoff19542@BohuslavskaKate That's why I also mentioned strategic depth. Also Ukraine projects far into southern Russia making it closer to targets in that region. Also recall I am talking about the situation in 2014 that led to these events.
@geoff19542@BohuslavskaKate I'm talking about the threats Russia faced as a result of the ousting of Yanukovych. The immediate threat of Ukraine suspending their access to Sevastopol, and their eventual entry into NATO (ie. US) with military (including missile) bases aimed at Moscow. They would still exist.
