What happens if Prop 4 does not pass?
- Texas still needs to invest $154B in water infrastructure
- Existing funding gaps will grow worse
- Local taxpayers will pay more for water
- Unreliable water infrastructure will cost jobs, GDP

To be clear, the Arkansas law differs from S.B. 3 in legally consequential ways. Unlike the Texas bill, Arkansas’ law did not ban “any amount” of a cannabinoid, it expressly permitted hemp farming consistent with federal law, and it carved out interstate transportation. Those are three legal concerns I raised about S.B. 3 that do not exist in the Arkansas law. Even though the Arkansas law was not plagued with the same legal defects as the Texas bill, it still was unenforced for two years and will be further tied up in court for years to come. I vetoed the Texas bill because we do not have time for a protracted legal fight - we must act now to keep Texas children safe. That process begins next month.
New: Sen. Kelly Hancock expected to be next Comptroller as Gov. Abbott avoids unlawful appointment, source says.
Abbott can't appoint Hancock based on his own 2002 AG opinion.
Hancock will take job in agency & take over when Glenn Hegar exits. #txlege

Kinky Friedman stepped on a rainbow at his beloved Echo Hill surrounded by family & friends. Kinkster endured tremendous pain & unthinkable loss in recent years but he never lost his fighting spirit and quick wit. Kinky will live on as his books are read and his songs are sung.
"Before I left the White House that night, as a token of my gratitude, I gave Bill [Clinton] a Cuban cigar. I told him, "Mr. President, don't think of it as supporting their economy. Think of it as burning their fields."
---- Kinky Friedman, who died today at the age of 79
Kinky Friedman was an exceptionally intelligent and thoughtful person, and a singularly unique presence in the cultural history of Texas. It was an honor to know him. He will be dearly missed.
As Kinky loved to say: May the god of his choice bless him.
Sad news this morning. The legendary Kinky Friedman has died. He was 79. Irreverent, iconoclastic, but with a heart as big as Texas, he lived on his own terms. Truly one of a kind.
I'm trying to figure out what my favorite Kinky quote is. Among them:
1) "If elected, the first thing I'll do is demand a recount."
2) "A fool and his money are soon elected."
3) "There's a fine line between fiction and non-fiction, and I believe I snorted it in 1976."
4) "I believe musicians can run this state a lot better than politicians. We just won't get much done in the morning."
5) "Remember: Y'all is singular. All y'all is plural. All y'all's is plural possessive."
6) “Money can buy you a fine dog, but only love can make him wag his tail.”
7) "Friedman's just another word for nothing left to lose."
Kinky was not a native Texan, but he once said that he had to come to Texas because we were the only state that would put up with his nonsense. It was here that he caught up to his future. There will never be another like him.
