You’re spot on about it being a stupid and intellectually dishonest stat.

To counter, you could cite the stupid stat that Burrow is 44-0 when entering the last 8:00 with the lead.

It’s not getting to the point.

There were 19 one-score games in those 34 losses. Of those that were effective final possessions, Bengals scored 6x and lost to a later score; 5x the kicker missed. 11/19 isn’t elite and isn’t horrible.

The defense blowing 6/7 where they scored is atrocious.

Joe Burrow has lost a total of 34 games in his career. This 1-34 “stat” cites every one. Of those, 15 were out of reach in the last 8:00. Of the 19 that weren’t, on final / near final possession, the Bengals scored 6x to tie / take the lead that the team didn’t hold. Another 5x got to FG and kickers missed. So 11/19 were drives where the offense did their job. Not elite, not horrible.
