Dear Nigerians, 2027 is around the corner. The sooner we all reflect on the points below, the better.

1. Verify before you amplify. Fact-check viral claims, audio, and videos. Disinformation is a campaign strategy.

2. Follow the money. Ask who funds your candidate. Funders often become policy owners after elections.

3. Attend debates, not just rallies. Rallies test popularity; debates test capacity.

4. Demand issue-based campaigns. If they can’t explain plans for jobs, power, security, and education in plain language, they don’t have any.

5. Organize your polling unit. Elections are won polling unit by polling unit. Know your agents, understand the BVAS process, and document the results.

6. Reject vote-buying, but don’t reject evidence. If you witness inducement, record it and report it to INEC and credible observers.

7. Think beyond the president and governor. Your LGA chairman and councillor control the roads, clinics, and schools closest to you.

8. Vote early, stay late. Cast your ballot and protect it until it’s counted and uploaded.
