Driver 'Swayed' Onto Hard Shoulder & Hit Pedestrian, Pausing Fatality.

A BUS driver has pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing the death of a pedestrian on the N7 in Kildare last year.

"Sujib Shak (33) residing at Orchard Court, Blackpool, Cork appeared before a sitting of Naas Circuit Criminal Court on Friday where he was arraigned for the charge of dangerous driving causing the death of Igor Soares on the eastbound section of the N7 at Kill, Co Kildare on November 1, 2025.

The accused, who was working with Dublin Coach, pleaded guilty to the offence contrary to Section 53 of the Road Traffic Act 1961 through a Bengali interpreter.

Mr Soares (31), an IT worker and native of Brazil, sustained fatal injuries in the collision which occurred between Junction 7 and Junction 8 at around 5:30pm.

The victim, who had been living in Cork for over three years, was pronounced dead later that day at Tallaght University Hospital where he was brought by ambulance after being struck by a bus.

Counsel for the DPP, Jordan Fletcher BL, asked Judge Elva Duffy to fix a sentencing date that would facilitate Mr Soares' family who are travelling to Ireland from Brazil for the court hearing.

The judge directed that a victim impact statement be prepared and remanded Mr Shak on continuing bail to a sentencing date in early December.

At a sitting of Naas District Court last December, Sergeant James Birmingham said the deceased was making a phone call when the bus "swayed into the hard shoulder."

Sgt Birmingham said the accused had produced Irish and Bengali driving licences as well as an Italian identification card.

An inquest into Mr Soares' death was adjourned at Dublin District Coroner's Court earlier this year after gardai confirmed that the DPP had directed a criminal prosecution should arise out of the circumstances of the fatal incident.

The defendant was uninjured in the incident, while two passengers received non-life-threatening injuries.

Mr Soares had been travelling from Cork at the time of the collision to visit his girlfriend, Luara Rocha, who was living in Dublin, to celebrate their first anniversary."

perhaps it’s time we had a serious conversation about productivity and value for taxpayers?

The national average is 32 weeks.

Meanwhile, consider how public-sector performance is rewarded.

According to latest reports, fewer than 1% of civil servants were denied their annual salary increment under the performance management system.

Civil servants are formally assessed on a five-point scale, with a rating of at least 3, meaning expectations have been fully achieved, required to progress up the salary scale.

Yet virtually everyone wins, everytime!

NOAC’s latest report reveals that only 9 of Ireland’s 31 councils met the 25% private rental inspection benchmark.

Dublin City inspected just 8.92%. Carlow managed 4.5%.

Despite €10.5 million being allocated to support inspections, the national inspection rate was just 18.9%.

Nobody is suggesting that every public servant is underperforming. Many work extremely hard.

But when the State is demanding more money for wages, taxpayers should be entitled to demand measurable improvements.

Pay increases must come with better performance and accountability.

Staff should have clear targets.

Managers should be responsible for results. Poor performance should have consequences.

Public servants deserve fair pay,
taxpayers deserve fair value.

France in chaos. 🇫🇷

Mainstream media are fighting hard to report these as "student protests". An Irish Times article today quotes sympathetic interviews to students explaining their grievances “School is a right,”

So is walking down the street without getting a flame-thrower into your face!

The truth is these protests have been hijacked by uncontrolled gangs.

The French educational system and welfare systems are buckling under enormous strain.

Social cohesion is lost.
Women are terrified.

Ireland has an opportunity to look at whats happening in Spain, France, Germany, Sweden and the UK.

Earlier this year @laoisedebrun formed an Irish Women’s Coalition on Immigration, calling for crime statistics broken down by country of origin and ethnicity.

The Irish Times ridiculed her. They called her "fringe".

But if your number one fear is the rise of the "far-right" or "fascism" then do what the Danish did.

Solve this one policy issue: open immigration.

If you want to call yourself "left wing" then your one priority should be protecting the validity of the welfare state.

A well functioning welfare state needs strict rules.

Who contributes?
Who benefits?

It means matching immigration policy to our capacity to provide housing, schools and healthcare.

Allowing open access to welfare is the most self-destructing force any left-wing Govt can do. It provides fertile ground for the "far-right"

If you believe "School is a right"... then protect the welfare state before your ideology bankrupts it.

So not only do you (as a migrant) get rewarded with citizenship but you essentially, for all intents and purposes, have your criminal record exponged, enabling you to clear criminal background checks to work with vulnerable children, elderly etc. No matter what you have done in your past.

Meanwhile a native persons criminal record (for lets say not paying the annual RTE Ministry of Truth fee) can and will be used and held against you. At every available opportunity. Yet they say you aren't being treated like a second class citizen in your own homeland.
