@bszen1977 @NYRLouie True. But the problem is he’d still cost us like 2.5-2.6 against the cap even in the minors. He’s too expensive to bury and too crappy to play in the NHL. It was a weird trade

@NYRLouie Agreed. Completely inexplicable to trade a 1st rounder for Pettersson and also take on 3 million for a backup. 8.5 million & a 1st rounder for a #4 D man and a bad backup goalie is wild. While also Vaak taking up 1.5 to be a #8 or #9 too

@mickey8rangers Makes more sense for Buffalo. They were a contender last year and could be a Kane away from making a Cup run. Kane would just be boxing out a young player from getting minutes on our team. Bad fit for us

@NYRLouie Also… we have the cap space and Scott Morrow hasn’t shown the ability to push him out of his spot. Theres no reason to move him off of the 3rd pair until some can challenge him for it.

@NYRLouie I’m not much of an analytics guy but he’s a young 1st round pick that has had his issues but has played fairly well on a very flawed team. I can absolutely see a case where we move him prematurely and he turns into a quality player like Pionk and Key Miller did.

@NYRBlueBulletin I would’ve absolutely taken Zucc @ 1 million over Bjorkstrand @ 4.5. I’d take Kakko & Kreider (with a sweetener) back too

@NYRLouie We could save another 3 million by trading away Vaak and Raddysh too. Raddysh is a good 11-13 guy if we are stuck with him but Vaak is so buried on the left side at this point I don’t see why he’s taking up a spot on the 23 man roster.

@jakezaretsky It’s a C for me. Seems like he likes to shuffle the deck chairs. Moves out Kakko for Borgen to then just sign bjorkstrand for the same money Kakko got and then moves out Borgen after 2 years anyway. Moves out Key for Morrow to sign a ton of Vet Dmen in free agency anyway, etc

@NYRLouie I’m only on board with trading Troch if we could also trade Borgen (I’d rather trade him over Schneids) and then use most of those assets on Marchenko

@NYRLouie I feel like the “idea” of Maccelli is better than he actually is. He’s one of those inconsistent skilled guys that either play in the Top 6 or are a healthy scratch. He didn’t seem to impress the Toronto organization last year despite them being a dumpster fire.

But yes I would be open to trading Fox (and Igor) for Brady-like returns
